In 2010, how many times did Casey McGehee get beaned at the plate?

For those of you that are following, the answer to this week’s trivia question is TWO.  Casey McGehee was smacked at the plate 2 times in all of 2010.  Guess that’s because Prince to most of them :)

With many new names on the Brewers for 2011, I always like to hear about the youngsters and keep an eye on how well they do playing in the big leagues with seasoned pros.  This weeks question should be quite easy, like the others, so if you know, just post your answer in the comments section like always.

What Brewer Is The Youngest According To The Active Roster?

After taking a quick look at the Brewers active roster posted on Brewers.com, the answer to this weeks question is Zach Braddock.

Of course, there is no prize awarded, it’s more about getting fan interaction on the blog.  So it’s always a good thing to click the “LIKE” button too :)  Maybe someday we can give away a gift card to the MLB Shop once we find a friendly way to run a contest.

Ok, the last couple have been a little harder and didn’t seem to get much of a response, so this week I am going to make the trivia a little easier to see if we can get some participation.

John Axford has been taking his closing business very seriously this year.  He can whip a nice 98 mph fastball and has more strikeouts that innings pitched in 2010 at the time of this post.  His number is 59 and when he first became a Brewer they were away and said he wouldn’t shave his mustache until he was back in Milwaukee (which happened a couple of days later).  The “Axman”, puts “AXclamations” at the end of Brewer wins and is starting to gain quite the following.

Where was John Axford born and in what year?

The answer to this weeks question was:   Axford was born in Simcoe, Ontario in 1983.

Since I was not able to update last week with some trivia, I did a little more research to find something I think most fans would know AND answer.

There has been a lot of talk about Trevor Hoffman this year and the fact that he couldn’t save at Wal-Mart, but there is one very interesting stat that I came across, for 2010, that I thought was interesting.  You can find this rather easy, but to get a bit more participation, I am going to make it a multiple choice.

In 2010, only, what is the batting average for the FIRST hitter that Trevor Hoffman faces?

1. .100 – .150
2. .200 – .250
3. .300 – .350
4. .400 – .450

Well, the answer is .333 according to a post on ESPN. That means the first batter that Hoffman faced, every time he pitched this year, hit .333. That is not going to look good on any resume! Stay tuned for next weeks trivia!

What player has the record for the most strikeouts (as a batter) in one game?

The answer to this one surprised me at first.  Geoff Jenkins, against the Angels on June 8th, 2004, struck out 6 times.  I think this was the 17 inning game.

What player has the record for the most strikeouts (as a pitcher) in one game?

The most strikeouts for a pitcher in ONE game was only about one month before Geoff whiffed 6 times, and it was Ben Sheets, who struck out 18 Braves on May 16th, 2004.

There are a couple hints, that might help keep you from searching the web. Both games were in 2004 and both records were established within ONE month of each other. If you know any of your friends that might want to take a stab at this, go ahead and share the post with them.

What I would like to do here is have a couple of questions, Brewer related of course, on Tuesdays throughout the baseball season.  I think I will have the questions posted here, then post them on Twitter and Facebook, allow comments to be posted and then come back with the answers in an updated post.

There is no prizes for getting me the answers, I know how easy it is to search Google.  This is going to be geared towards Brewer facts that you may have never known.  All of the questions will be from 1969 to present.

Who is/was the tallest Brewer?

In case you haven’t looked up the answer yet, there are two Brewers that tie for being the tallest.  One is Seth McClung and the other is Corey Hart.  They both top out at 6 foot 6 inches tall.

What is the most stolen bases for a Brewer in ONE season?

 I didn’t know this one from the start and still never heard of this guy, but Tommy Harper leads the Brewers in stolen bases in ONE season with 73, back in 1969.
